i'm running a core 2 duo E6550 on idle temp 45 c, on load never exceeding 66 c (reported by core temp),
heat sink Artic freezer 7 fan speed is roughly 600 - 700 rpm on idle, 2000 on max load (PWM Enabled).
When using gigabyte tools (hardware monitoring), the reported temp is 35 c on idle on load 60 max.
i don't know which 1 is correct....? however it seems to me that, gigabyte tools has taken this core temp value from bios. since they both match each other.
is it normal ?
in my opinion, by using artic freezer 7 core temp should be lower than 45 on idle..
my spec is :
gigabye p35-s3l
e6550 2333 ghz. (enabled the gigabyte CIA automatic variable overcloking or such on full thrust resulted at steady 2.85 ghz on load)
does any 1 here using e6550 on stock fan ? can u tell me the core temp and fan speed on idle ?
thx in advance...
The programs don't really report temperature accurately They can be way off. What you want to do is compare the new Artic Freezer heatsink to your stock heatsink. If it's 10'c cooler then it's working.
Don't worry about comparing your temps to someone else or to a benchmark cause they are running different boards, different CPUs, different programs. And they are using different tools to monitor temps.
If you used good compound, did a good install you should be fine. Compare it to the stock heatsink and rate your Artic Freezer by stating
"It lowered my temps by 8'C" not like
"Ah man I'm only getting 45'c"
Which statement sounds better...although both situations are true in your case the first sounds better. You're just thinking of the glass as half empty instead of half full

ibmas400, Core Temp has nothing in common with BIOS. If you want to understand your temperatures, and learn how to properly test, calibrate, and monitor your temps, then check out the Core 2 Quad and Duo Temperarure Guide: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] ture-guide
