More Information

Hello, first time poster. I have an issue that I hope someone has come across before. I have an GA-P35-DS4 rev 2 Mobo. I assembled the machine about a month ago w/out any problems to speak of. Then about a week ago it started to shutdown very very slow. If I did a cold reboot I'd BSOD over and over again. Eventually vista would appear. Upon lookign at my device manager (dm) I saw there was a proble in my ide ata. Where channel 0 and 1 would have yellow triangle w/a ! in it. I tried unistalling them and rebooting. Nothing would remove my triangles. The error was something to the effect that the device did not load. AFter much trouble shooting I found that if I disable the ide/sata switch in bios for the Gsata ports on the board my problem goes away. I do not have any sata raid drivers installed for the gsata ports (the purple ones). Could this have been my reason, and why? I am new to computer building and love it. I am not using the gsata ports now but may decided to raid one day and would like to have the option of raid via esata. I have the external bracket hooked up to the gsata ports but they are set to IDE in bios.
My second question is more of an troll for information. In my current dm I have 8 listed ata ports. I have 2-0's, 2-1's and 4 singles labled 2-5. My question is why do I have 2 0's and 2 1's. On the board the sata ports are broken up into groups (2 oranges labled 0 and 1) (4 yellow Labled 2 - 5) and (2 purple labled gsata 0 and gsata 1)
