I have a secondary internal HDD that I know has viruses. It once leaked virus to my primary internal HDD when I reinstalled Windows on it. This virused HDD has years worth of work on it and I want to salvage any files that haven't been infected. Currently, it's disconnected from my computer for fear of reliving the past, but what's the best way to reconnect it and clean it with my AVG antivirus without it leaking the virus to my primary HDD again?

Your best bet is to unplug your infected HHD, dump AVG on your current HHD, get winclam/Kaspersky, replug in the old HHD, scan the old one, remove all viruses, then scan your current one.
