Hi all, I have an old Dell 8250 Ive been trying to breathe some life back into, I recently upgraded the ram, which is PC1066 RDRAM from 1 gigabyte to 2 gigabytes, according to the manual the machine would only recognize up to 1.5 GB of PC1066. I could only find an upgrade in the 1 GB size so thats what I got.

After I installed the 2 new sticks of RDRAM, the computer recognizes all 2 gigs, but now my memory speed has been reduced to PC800 instead of PC1066. I checked to make sure all 4 sticks of ram are PC1066 and they are, so I'm kinda stumped on this one, can anyone provide some insight? Thanks.

Also, would it be better to have 2 gigs @ pc800 or 1.5 gigs at pc1066?

What processor? What Dell version? And can you actually get into the BIOS of the Dell? You using CPU-Z to tell the ram speed?

The processor is a Pentium 4 2.8 ghz Northwood, Dell Dimension 8250. I was using the system BIOS to tell the ram speed, Everest and Sandra also report the ram speed as being 400 mhz.
