game crash, now corrupted images?

Alright, so I was happily playing BF2 one day, when the game crashes. That lovely CCC message comes up saying my x1650xt gpu stopped responding and was reset. I ended up having to restart the computer when it halted. Now my desktop images are corrupt looking. Games still play fine, but they always seem to crash after a while.
See left for system details. Using 7.12 drivers.

below is a screenshot of my desktop.

notice the jagged edges of all of them, as well as the white spots around the mozilla thunderbird and gvp icons. Also, notice the color deformities in the system tray. (aim icon)

It could also be your PSU whcih is dying, and maybe taking the video card with it. But plan on a new video card in any case.
