everything looks good? i choose AMD since its a lot cheaper ... 100 vs 150 for a C2D of comparable performance...
and how will the computer handle crysis?

I personally wouldn't go for a AMD CPU but that's just me. Otherwise everything looks fine.

AMD is a lot cheaper because it cant perform like Intel.

will the powersupply be enoguth to power this system - i plan on overclocking most everthing

The CPU your chose is of a lower class than the video card.
For someone who's price/performance conscious, you're not consistent.
If you're that sensitive to price/performance optimizations, you should get a 8800GT instead...
BUUUT, maybe you're really an AMD fanboy :)

Seriously, even with a reasonable motherboard, you could overclock a cheap Intel CPU much higher, and justify your price/performance requirements.
I'm using an Asus P5K to overclock an E6750 to 3.4GHz.

Current Intel CPUs maintain lower temps, and offer higher possible clocks (and of course performance).

With a few $ more, you could get an Intel E4500, which offers much higher performance compared to the Athlon 5000+.
Check out this VERY useful article:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/c [...] out_9.html

The E4500 is shown to have a superior Price/Performance ratio over the AMD 5000+, and that's before considering overclocking, which would make this advantage bigger.

At stock speeds AMD has to lower their price that much just to compete. Once you throw overclocking into the mix, AMD cant touch Intel at all. I would recommend taking eltoro's advice and going with the e4500. I would also not recommend SLI unless your gaming at high resolutions, and even if you stick with AMD, that would mean you dont need an SLI motherboard or the Intel version either if you do decide to go that route.. For the same price you can get a much newer(read:better) board with an Intel chipset or save a few bucks on a non-SLI AMD board..

Get the Intel E2160 (not 80) :D

runs perfectly fine on my DS3L and GT

alls good?

Reply to prometheas

much better :D

except if you are going to go with that, I would get the E6750 or EVEN better the new E8400

Well depending, you could get an E2160 (not the 80) and overclock. It will do perfectly well and save money for say a future upgrade

wait for E8200 for $160.

Reply to linuxguru

how long will that be?

Reply to prometheas

According to an xbitlabs E8x00 review, there's a substantial in OC potential between the different models in the E8x00 family.
The E8400 should be capable of 4GHz! And that would be 4GHz of enhanced Core 2 goodness :)
Even lower temps and higher performance than current Core 2 Duo CPus.
