I am Wandering weather my motherboard is compatible with the new Nvidia 9800 GPU's

From a number of difference sources (one being wikipedia) it says that some of the 9800 GPU's supports both PCI Express 2.0 and x16 is this true?

Does the motherboard I currently have support PCI Express 2.0?

The motherboard you currently have DOES NOT support PCI-e2.0... although the 9000 series will still work with your board as they are PCI-e1.1 backwards compatible

I agree. I currently own the P5N-E SLI. Great board but as said, only has the PCI-E 1.1. The card will work fine, but it may be slightly capped as far as performance. I remember Tom's has an article comparing the difference you'll see between PCI-E 2.0 and 1.1. I think at the time, there was only something like 2-5% difference in performance.

Still a great board. With the latest BIOS, it'll take the 8000 series dual-core Penryn's.

Okay thanks as long as it doesnt make that much of a performance difference, also i think the 8800 GT has Hyrbrid technology right?
If so would it work if I got a 9800 at end of year and and 8800 and put them together on same motherboard or not?

If it wouldn't work wont matter
Thanks for the reply's =D

I think youll find the hybrid tech is designed for intergrated GPU and low end GPU's... Currently i dont think there is any plans from NVIDIA to be able to mix and match high end cards ... only AMD/ATI do this at the moment
