The mobo recognized all 3 sets of memory.
the XP os recognized all 3 sets of memory.
Neither of the sticks are on the QVL.
As per the manual, quote;
"Due to CPU limitation, DIMM modules with 128 mb memory chips or
double sided x16 memory chips are not supported in this motherboard."
Both of these mem sticks have 16 chips, 8 per side x 2 sides.
If both the BIOS and the OS recognize the memory, then what is the problem?
What does it matter if the mem sticks have chips on both sides or not?
The reason I'm asking is that when the comp is up and running, all is fine, normal desktop usage, untill I run graphic programs, it locks up.
I have tried Froggy and a couple of other demo's and they all lock up after time.
the BIOS are of stock clock settings, No over-clocking.
I have been dealing with this for over a year, going back and forth with Nvidia telling me to try different drivers.
I contacted ASUS on this and they said the PSU was to blame.
I had to RMA the 1kw PSU cause the voltages were low, the replacement has the correct voltages. Still no help.
Using the included drivers for the mobo and V-cards, up-dating the drivers, trying several other drivers to no avail, it just keeps locking up.
Is this a memory problem, driver problem or mobo problem?
BTW, the south-bound gets very hot...
I have a killer ventalation system in place to solve any over-heating if that were to occure.
CPU and mobo run at nominal temps.
Has anyone had this combo, know of any probs or fixes or other issues with this combo?
