Doing my first build with a Abit IP35 pro mobo, Evga 8800gt video card and OCZ 700w Gamestream PS and unsure if I should connect all power connections. The Abit board has a 4 pin auxiliary power connector labelled ATX4P1 which says is to provide auxiliary power when adding cards to the PCI Express slots but the Evga card has it's own power connector for auxiliary power. I'm just wondering if I would be causing a problem by adding power to both these connectors.. Should I just use one or the other or are there safety controls within the card which would manage this?

If you're unsure about the technical aspect but you have a similar setup, please post what you did in this situation so I don't fret about it. As long as I know that 2 or 3 other people hooked up both connections and their system is stable, I'll do the same.

Read the manaul. If it's unclear, ask in ABIT forum. They're more than happy to give you a pointer.

Yeah, I checked the manual. It doesn't say anything about having a separately powered video card. I'm also in a Abit Forum where so far I had 2 opinions in about 8 hours - One saying to plug both in and the other saying not to. So I thought I'd ask here and see what other people are doing. Figured others doing new builds might be using the same Mobo & Video cards - they seem to be popular. Only other good solution is to send a email to Abit tech support but says they are on duty M-F. Might be able to call the 800 number - not sure of the hours but doing other stuff in the meantime so just thought I'd reach out until it comes time to fire it up. Hey, thanks for reading though!

Thanks very much folks. Got my answer from Mr. Chris on the Abit forum. Said it doesn't hurt to have both connections going (in case I need to have it for another card without it's own power connector). He tried it both ways and no effect.
