More Information

Hello,

I've just assembled a new system and everything is fine (after a lot of pain) except one thing:

I get no sound.

My motherboard is the Gigabyte P35-DS3R Rev 2.0 and even after installing drivers, there is nothing coming out of the speakers. I can not find the realtek drivers in the device manager either, although I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for.

I have tried reinstalling Windows (XP Professional) twice and I have checked that sound is enabled in the BIOS. I have also tried installing the drivers from the DVD and downloading them from the internet from the Gigabyte website.

I am starting to think this is a hardware fault but I don't want to rip out the motherboard from the computer yet another time. I also read somewhere that this problem isn't so uncommon.

Thanks for the help.

Have you tested the speakers to make sure they're working fine?

Yes, the speakers are working fine.

When I was installing the drivers for the motherboard, the updating of the INF chip set took forever and didn't install properly. Could this have anything to do with it?
