Heres my problem: I just assembled this new PC, but whenever I turn it on, theres no signal to the monitor and no POST beeps, and the power shuts off after about 30 seconds. All the fans spin, lights turn on etc. The only thing that I may have been at fault with is the 12V ATX cable. My PSU (OCZ xStream) only has 2x 4 pin connectors labelled CPU 1 + 2. Since no other 4 pin connectors are present I assume these can be used for the ATX. Problem it that I really had to stretch it to reach the plug. Could this have damaged it? Also I noticed that when I dont plug it in, the power doesnt shut off after 30 secs. But nothing useful happens anyway.

Thanks for any help

If they are marked CPU they are not the 12v connectior for the board, there has got to be another 4/8 pin connector for MB power.

Usually on PSU's I've used and seen, you have a 20 pin PSU connector, and then one of your 4 pins will latch onto, or piggyback onto that 20 pin connector to give you the 24 pin connector. The other 4 pin should go to the CPU. Sometimes the extra 4 pin for the 24 pin plugin is even colored like green or something like that. If worse comes to worse, if you look around for adapters, they do make one that you plug into a molex connector, and it gives you the end for plugging into the small 4 pin slot on the board. So if worse comes to worse, you might look into that.

Make sure the HSF is securely connected and you have the precise number of standoffs and each has a screw. Check your RAM, if 2 sticks try one and try different slots
