If you are like me, and you are looking through the many sellers for the E8400 chip, and everyone is out of stock, even ebay... then this is right up your alley.

I found a place selling ( and in stock ) the E8000 series CPU's for a good price.

Costcentral.com has the E8400 OEM for $192.99 with free shipping. They also have the E8200 and E8500 chips on hand. The retail verson of the E8400 is out of stock, but all other chips are in stock.

Enjoy!

Wow, nice find. This could influence the decisions of many that are trying to decide between a Q6600 and an E8400/8500. Thanks mate!

Although I should mention, what the heck is up with the huge price difference between the E8400 OEM and Retail?!?! $192.99 for the OEM and $260.03 for the Retail?!?!? Seriously, there's really no reason to go for the Retail at that price......at least the OEM is cheap!

I know seriously, and they want ~$67 bucks for it? Considering that many people buy this to overclock and will be voiding their warranty anyway, the cooler is the only thing extra they're getting in the Retail. Not to mention that you can get a Q6600 OEM for the same price......

Yes I had the same thought about the retail. There is no reason for it to be $260 anywhere. Even pricewatch is over $270. I'd bet they jacked up the price of the retail like everyone else has since it seems like Intel is having a hard time keeping people supplied with these processors. I'm doing WC so there is no need to have yet another HSF sitting around doing nothing.

This is one of the few places that even list the 8200 and 8500 chips. Most of the places I looked at listed only the 8400.

Good argument on the warranty, but only the qx series is warrantied for overclocking. Otherwise you OC and if they can tell from the post mortem you are SOL.

I think OEM's for CPU's sold at like NewEgg or Ewiz the warranty is like only 30 days. I suppose Intel will still give you a year, but it just can't be returned to the merchandiser I believe. Unless you buy an extended warranty for it OEM or Retail.

But who would really want to pay an extra 40-70 Bucks for a year or 2?

Also if your going to OC, you might as well forget about the warranty. So far my dad's E4300 had the 30 day warranty from Ewiz, and the year warranty is going to be up in a couple of months, so... Blah on the warranties for CPU's.

Remember that you get only a 1 year warranty with OEM and 3 years with retail. It may very well be worth it for a heavy overclocker to pay the extra for the retail version, although I agree, the price difference is rarely more than $30.

dsb1829 said what I was going to say, that the warranty is voided anyway so it really doesn't matter in the end for an overclocker.

They say it is in stock, but also say:

After your order is placed,
Allow approximately 2-3 weeks for delivery.

They say this with all other processors in stock. :non:
