So.

Decided that I don't want to spend the extra £75 for a Q9450 over a Q6600. I almost nipped onto Dabs and ordered a Q6600 right away, but that could be pretty dumb with the Q9450's out in two weeks (I think).

Should I wait for two weeks and see if the price of the Q6600 drops after the new Quads are launched? How much is the Q6600 likely to drop when the new chips come out? Will it drop at all or has the market already priced in the new chips?

If it's only going to lose a tenner then I'll probably order right away, but if someone who pays more attention to these things could offer me their advice it'd be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

The Q6600 is scheduled to drop from a tray price of $266 to $224.
I'm not sure the exact date, but I think it's in April.

I'm starting to see some Q6600 sales so I'm thinking the 45nm quads will be here soon. I think there could be a slight drop in the Q6600 soon, but nothing major.

Unless you want to wait until April, I would buy now.

The Q9450 is definitely being released in March.
Intel has always firmly stated Q1 which means sometime in March.

It could be March 31, but I would be very very surprised if it was even one day later.

Holy smokes, that will push the flagship Phenom to $200 or lower!

Not good for AMD!

Looks like Dabs' OEM Q6600 is the B3, retail is the G0. Scan.co.uk has the G0 for cheaper than dabs, I usually find scan the cheapest out of itself/ebuyer/overclockers/dabs, just a tip.

Q6600 price reduction is scheduled for 20th of April. We can hope for the Q9450 to come in March. Thing is, unless you've pre-ordered one like now, I can sense bad ass shortages coming up.

Factories are still mostly geared on 65nm productions, they'll only pass to 50/50 with 45nm in early 2009
