TSMC and UMC eyeing 45nm production

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will start volume production on 45nm technology in the third quarter of 2007 at the earliest, according to company vice president Jack Sun, while sources added that United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) is also working on developing its 45nm process technology. IBM, Infineon, Chartered and Samsung tape out 45nm chips

The collaboration between IBM, Infineon Technologies, Chartered Semiconductor and Samsung Electronics on 45nm production process has progressed, with the first tape out proceeding at IBM's 12" fab, and other members of the alliance stating they are on schedule to introduce their own production by end of 2006, according to officials from the companies at a recent Chartered technology forum in Santa Clara. Applied Materials: First 45nm-process ICs to arrive in 2007

Got this from asus CPU support page:

A listing of CPU support for that board:

Core 2 Duo E8400 (3.00GHz,1333FSB,L2:6MB,65W,rev.C0)

Pretty much any 780i from NVidia, P35/X38 will support the 45nm. Especially from Asus as they always keep their boards up to date.

It only states support for C2D and C2Q. Doesn't specify if it supports the 45nm steppings cuz not all chipsets do such as the 680is.
