add Seasonic and FSP

Seasonic makes Antecs current line on psu's and the Corsair HX psu's

The OCZ gameXtreme/StealthXtreme are made by FSP

Also getting a PSU thats is 80+ certified will help save some heat and power...most are 80+ now, but its something to look for...

Enermax is also a good brand. I've also had good luck with ThermalTake, though I don't know if they make their own PSUs.

Seasonic also built the silencer series from PC Power and Cooling. The silencer 750w was the PSU Nvidia used in their build to introduce the 8800 Ultra, in SLI naturally. Also Enermax is a pretty good brand, and their Galaxy S DXX 1000w PSU is the absolute best PSU on the market, rated as the absolute T1, the rest of their PSUs (non-Galaxy models) are T2.

I'm powering my machine with a Silencer 750w, and even though 1000w is absolutely ridiculous and totally overkill for the foreseeable future, I wish I spent twice as much on the Galaxy S. Afterall how many times can you say you have the absolute best in the PC world? Lastly the Quattro series from Antec is supposed to have problems with many components, G92 cards, GTX, and others. Although I am not sure whether they have fixed that or not, if they have I must admit my Silencer is my first non-Antec PSU so I respect Antec totally, they just had some bad luck.

My machine:
Intel E6750 @ 3.6 Ghz with Swiftech H120 WC kit / XFX 680i LT / 2x XFX 8800 GT (lightly OC'd), both with Thermaltake Duorbs / 4x 1GB Mushkin 800 mhz HP series memory / 1x 500 GB Seagate HD / PC P&C Silencer 750w / modded Antec 900

All this and I only almost scratch 500w when everything is totally maxed out in the entire system.

I have been using Antecs - primarily because I find them on sale at substantial discounts.

But one of the things that I look for in the specs is: "Full rated power at 50 deg. C."

This list is well researched and a pretty good guide as to which PSU brand/models to buy:

I'll just skip Rosewills altogether, and their smaller ones are garbage.

Anything from the xtemesystems link in Tier 3 or above will be more than fine for a stock or moderately oc'd system. I notice that the Antec TruePower (Quattro) isn't on the list tho. I'd feel quite comfortable using Tier 1 in a server and Tier 2 for serious oc'ing w/ multiple vid cards and Tier 3 for everything else.

Short answer to "best" is no.
The best is PC Power & Cooling...and the best price for them is to buy dirrect (always cheaper than NewEgg ect.).

@The_Blood_ Raven...
Some cases like my CoolerMaster CM TO-1 have dual PSU support.
Two PC P&C 610's are a -constant rated- 1220Watts/98 12V amps for 2 X's $119 USD.
