Hi.

I'm going to buy a new PC to use as a gaming platform.

My question is will a Core 2 Duo E6750 2,4 Ghz, FSB 1333 4MB Cache be enough to run Games like crysis? Or should I try to get my hands on a Quadcore processor. Planing to use a 512 Mb 8800GTS.

I've heard that wery few programs can take bennefit from 4 cores and that 4 cores will lead to increaset powwer consumtion and therfore a louder PC. I want a fairly quiet one.

P.S Please note english is not my 1st language therfore the spelling can be a little crazy.

Thanks for your answers.

You should also look at the E8XXX series of dual cores that has replaced the E6XXX series.

The E8200 or E8400 are good choices for low power dual core systems. Unless you do a lot of video encoding or multi-threaded applications the quad isn't worth it quite yet.. in a year or 2 definitely, but not yet.

Before the vultures swoop down and pick at your carcass with this post I will answer truthfully, and from experience. I own both a E6750 and a Q6600, but I use my E6750 in my gaming machine. I find that I get better performance in older games, and even a lot of new ones, with the E6750. In Crysis both CPUs are either exactly the same or less than a tenth of a FPS different than each other. The E6750 can also overclock much better, and much more efficiently than the Q6600. In the end the E6750 will run Crysis as well as the Q6600 in Cysis, though the E8400 will have a noticeable increase over both CPUs.

Exactly, the pure and honest truth.
