i have q9300 (quad-core) at 2.5GHz. im looking to overclock to 2.6GHz. i understand that multiplier x fsb= clock speed. my delima is that currently (stock settings) my fsb is 333MHz. my multiplier is 6.0. so 333 x 6=1998MHz (or 1.9GHz? per core?) . ok now this is where im confused, how do i get 2.5GHz? what is the math to get the answer 2.5GHz? if i multiply 1998 by 4 i get 7992 (7.9GHz?) but thats all four cores together right? i dont understand how to get 2.5 as an answer. so if some one could please help me out its greatly appreciated.

First of all, your multiplier is 7,5. Not 6, 6x is when SpeedStep is on I believe (energy saving feature).

So to get 2,5Ghz just do seomthing cpu intensive and it will bumb back to 2,5Ghz, by changing the multiplier to 7.5x.

And the math is. FSBxMultiplier= cpu speed. so 333x7.5=2,5Ghz.
I don't know if i will break your bubble but speed from core doesn't add up.

^unless... for a multithreaded app it wont like double but it will be pretty bloody close to it, like SLI/CF scaling.
