Long boot time with MSI P35 Neo2-FR

The boot hangs for about 60 seconds after:
Marvell 88SE61XX Adapter - BIOS Version 1.1.0.L61. Initializing.

I have the floppy and DVD burner in the boot sequence. Both are functioning properly. I don't have anything plugged into the 5th SATA port. Does anyone know what is causing the delay? And better yet, know of a way to make it go away?

After the hang, the boot continues normally. I have the latest BIOS (1.8).

More about long boot time neo2
  1. A bit more information. I unplugged the DVD burner IDE cable and booted and didn't encounter the long delay. I checked the firmware on my Plextor burner (PX-740A) and it had the latest version (1.2). I've decided to get a SATA burner primarily to get rid of the IDE cable. Hopefully, that will resolve the problem.
  2. Check to see if your burner is configured as slave
  3. Thanks for the response. See http://forum.msi.com.tw/index.php?topic=115678.0 for another thread. I decided to replace the ATA burner with SATA. It resolved the problem and eliminated the big cable.
