Which setup in your opinion would do better for modern games? Budget is quite limited so consider that there aren't any extra $$$ to spend. Tnx.

games + gpu limited... so on that

depends on the res... for lower res, the first one... for higher res, the second one...

personally i'd take the E6550 + the 8800GT, but hey, i know how money can be :p

ehmm, i'm not sure, to be honest... the problem witht he 8800GT is the CPU isn't as good... can you not try getting the 8800GT and the E2140/60/80? cos the HD3850 isn't going to last all that long at that res... even with 512mb

I've already considered E2xxx, but I thought that those are severely crippled by their small amount of cache. Surely overclocking would make up for that, but I wouldn't go too far, 2.4-2.6 GHZ maybe. Stock cooling and default voltage would be nice for long-term worry-free.

Does E2xxx beat Brisbane at the same frequency? I'd like to know because I believe I could safely up the X2 to those frequencies too.

I've just did some research, seems that even E2xxx is faster than brisbane at the same frequencies. So I guess that E2xxx and 8800GT would be a way to go.

Thanx for your help!
