44 pin ATA connector pin question

I've got a 44 pin 2.5" drive I want to use on a regular board. According to this page, it's rather easy.

However I am not sure what to do with the 44th pin - leave it unused? ground it? or does it need some logic to tell it something?

Naa that'd be too simple! But it did help in fact.
Obviously the converter only supplies 0 and 5v - so if I add 5v on the two pins that needs it and ground to where it is needed - then I'll see if it works. If it doesn't there's a 50/50 chance it'll work when I apply either ground or 5v ; dunno what happends if I guess wrong, but it's worth taking risks like that.
