Am trying to make my pc as quiet as possible and am looking for the quietest psu above 520w. Here are my specs:
E6600 @ 3ghz (1.3v) w/ tt big typhoon @ 27c
Evga 680i sli
Pny 8800gtx (underclocked in 2d mode - 20% fan speed)
2 x 1gb ocz gold ram
2x 400gb HDD in raid 0
+ my !"£$%%%$££ generic PSU 630w

The only part that makes noise is the psu at the moment cz it has 3 80mm fans.
My question is : Which Psu??
Am looking at :

Antec true power TRIO 650w
Corsair 520hx
Corsair 550vx
hiper type r 580

In general, high efficiency PSs (>80%) put out less heat and so need less fan cooling. I have found my Neo HE 500 and 550 to be un-noticeably quiet, so I would expect the TRIO to be similar.
If you really don't need 3d graphics, you can save money, power, and noise by selling the 8800gtx and buying a passively-cooled 6xxx or 7xxx series card instead.

I still game but not as much as i used to. anyway my gtx is inaudible at that fan speed with fine temps.
My options are relly limited to those i listed cz i have credit from a local store and i want to use that before spending anything else.
right now my preference is the 520hx from corsair for which i've never heard a bad comment + its made by seasonic which is one of the best in the buissiness

I've used the 520HX in a build. It's amazingly quiet. Plus, as you mentioned, it's built by Seasonic, so it's very reliable. I'd recommend it.

Trust me when I say to make it silent is impossible. Atm the only thing that makes noise in mine is PSU and I cant find one that don't. You'll need to attach a custom fan for that.

PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750

I reccomend those, the higher model over lower obviously. Will run very quiet at lower power loads.

I never said "silent". Silent computers (the powerfull ones) are still imposible, so am trying to make it as quiest as possible. The silencer series is known to be very stable but 80mm fan is always noisier than 120 at the same airflow.

Excluding $120K PSU test equipment, Hard OCP still has the best test setup that I have see, and when they test a PSU you get to see the Oscope pics.
Don't make the mistake that I did with regard to the difference between 12cm and 8cm fans in a PSU.
I have 3 Silencer PSU powered computers, and 2 Other PSU's with 12cm fans. All 3 of the Silencer series are quieter than either of the 12cm fan PSU computers with regards to the sound from the PSU.
I like that the Silencer PSU's are often less expensive with respect to Seasonic at the higher wattages.
Also with the PCPower PSU's you get a 5 year warranty.
Made by Seasonic, cheaper, and one massive single 12v rail, I buy PCPower from now on.

I 've heard the 610silencer running under load and i can say that when the fan speeds up a bit, it gets annoying. The corsair, i've heard it under normal conditions but not under load so i cant really compare. I prefer how the corsair sounds, tho.

120 mm Fans have become the fashion and selling point of many pc coolers. But that is not the case in some cases. PC Power & cooling article on this is probably a reference reading material whether you decide to buy PC Power & Cooling PS or not.
