Ok, I have an older system that used to be amazing (in my mind). But I started running out of space. He's the General.

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
Athlon 64 4000+ 939
2 gb A-Data ram
2 8800 GTX's in Sli
2 WD 250 GB Hdd's in RAID 0 64k Striping
Don't need to list the extras because its all peripherals.

So here's the issue. I have my hdds in a raid array on the Nforce 4 SLI chipset set on the 2nd and 4th Sata connectors (due to gfx card length). So I went out and bought a WD10EACS Hdd today on the cheap (new) from a local retailer. Carefully put it in the case, connected cables (3rd Sata connection on the nvraid). Bios, finds the drive and all information about it. It even comes up in the "Safely remove hardware list" But I can't get it to show up in my device manager to format the drive and get it working. I am just lost at this point and need some Omnipotent guidence from someone more knowledgeable than myself. This is killing me because I don't see ANYONE having this problem anywhere.....
If you need anymore info I'd be happy to inform you guys. Thanks

Control panel, Adminsitrative Tools, Computer management, disk management.
You have to format, and set the partition to active here before you can do anything with it, or get it to show up anywhere else under Windows.

Thats just the thing. IT DOESNT SHOW UP UNDER DISK MANAGEMENT AT ALL? I am a techy nut. I've done this before but somehow this drive eludes me on what is going on.

Oh, sorry...you said it would not show up in the device manager. You did not say it wouldn't show up in Disk Management, lot of people don't realize you have to go there first to get a new drive working.
Perhaps you have simply gotten a bad drive? Can you return it for another one?

I doubt that the hdd is bad. It shows up in "Safely remove hardware" in the system tray which means that my computer see it. But for some reason it not showing up in disk management. Could it be a conflict with default drive labeling... or an interference with my usb card reader? I want to look at all options before i have to rma this thing.

go into the raid config for the motherboard.
add the new drive as a raid 0 with the new disk as the only member.
exit the bios and boot to windows

you should now see the drive in devicemanager or disk management
