Hi,

I just finished the following build:

evga 780i motherboard / Q6600 SLACR
bfg 8800 gtx oc2
kingston hyperx ddr2-1200
epilison 1010w psu
.. and a few more things

When I start the PC all that appears is some pixels and lines. No characters, no icons.
It looks like the PC is working fine somehow, I can press DEL and the pixels will somewhat change so I guess I'm getting into BIOS configuration. That's why I suspect it's more of a display related problem.

I'm still using an old samsung CRT and using the DVI-to-VGA converter that came with the card. Monitor works fine on another PC.

Any idea what the problem may be? I would guess someone must have had a similar problem before.

Thanks alot in advance!

test a different card in that board. Evga has decent quality control, but sometimes stuff happens, even in transit. Im willing to bet that mb is your problem.

Well I just tested another card and it worked fine.

I also tested this card on another PC and got the same result.

It shows this garbage/artifacts on the CRT with the DVI-to-VGA converter.

On an LCD directly connected to the DVI the monitor stays in standby mode and refuses to start.

I think this card is dead :( Fan works and it does get hot a bit but looks like the signal coming out is all messed up.

Make sure you got all the power hooked up to it. If still no beans RMA it.
