OK so heres the story my b-day is coming up on the 29th and i was wanting to get the new 9800 GX2 EVGA. But when i saw the interface it said PCI Express 2.0 x16. so im not really sure what the 2.0 is all about but i thing it haves to do with the slot speed. My mother board is a Biostar TF7050-M2 and i checked out the specs of the slot and it just said PCI Express x16. So my question is if i get the 9800 will it be compatable with my motherboard?

Yes, PCI-E 2.0 is backwards compatible, so it will work just fine.

Hi,

I'm considering upgrading my graphics card to a 9600GT. When I checked the nvidia.com site today, it wasn't listed under PCI Express, Does this mean a significant performance loss? I'll be running the 512MB DDR3 version from Sparkle.

Also, my motherboard is an MCP61 solution, nForce 430 + 6100. It's AM2, and the processor is AthlonX2 4000+ (2.2 Ghz). The board manual says that the PCI-E slot is limited to x8 bandwidth on this model (MSI K9N6SGM-V). Does this mean that I should change the motherboard first? Having to change the motherboard too will be a big blow to my budget, and that'll mean I'll have to push back my purchase further. The graphics card I have now is a Geforce 7300GT. I checked with GPU-Z and it does show that the graphics card is running at 8x.
