Hi I have just built my new system but I am concerned about speed step
Does it slow down performance, because at idle it runs a 2000 with a multiplier of 6, when its rated at 3000 with a multi of 9.
It does get to 3000 x 9 under load
also my ram is rated a 4-4-4-15 yet i have 8GB installed running at only 6-6-6-18 symetric 2T

CAN ANYONE SUGGEST SETTINGS TO INCREASE RAM LATENCYS AND ADVISE ON SPEEDSTEP
My set up is
E8400 @ Stock
Artic Cooler Pro 7
GA-P35-DS3P Only changes are 64 Bit, and disabling onboard sound.
8GB OCZ Reaper P6400 - 800mhz
X-Fi Extreme Gamer Sound Card
BFG - Nvidia 8800 512 o/c GTS Card
Corsair 620watt HX
Antec 900 with Dual extra 1600 Fans
2 X Seagate 7200.11 500GB 32mb cache Drives NO raid
2 X Samsung Sata 20 Burners
1 x Akasa Card Reader
Windows Vista 64 Home Premium Edition
Saitek Eclipse Pro II Illumination Keyboard
Razer Gamer Mouse 2000 Dpi
19 Inch Hanns G 2ms Monitor @ 1440 x 900

Have you take a look into OCZ forum? They have decent technical supports & documentations.

However, I must say, for 4x2GB you have lower down your expectations a little bit. It's known that for 8GB (4 slot) will reduce the specifications a little bit. All I can say is that you have to experiment by yourself to have an optimal settings for your settings.

If you use 2x2GB, I believe you can achieve 4-4-4-15 by no problem at all, but that's not the case for 4x2GB IMO.

Regarding the EIST (Enhanced Intel Speedstep Tecnology), you don't have to worry about it. In one way it's good to help us reduce our electricity bills :D

Basically it will not use 100% of it capabilities when we don't need it. Even if we're using our computer only for gaming, there is a time when the CPU is not working at 100%.

yeah, speed step. is not a problem. we whenever ur loaded. it will use the cpu fully. if u not really loading the system. then u wont need the 9 multiplier. since 6 will be enough.
