I jusy got the Adelphia HD DVR box and am not impressed. The non-hd
stations look very grainy and the HD stations still have the black bars on
the top and bottom even though I have a wide screen hd set. I have used
Time Warner and Dish network in the past and the black bars were not there
on their hd stations. Does anyone else have this problem and is there some
sort of setting to change this? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Look at both the video setting and widescreen setting in the Moxie
settings area. You should be able to eliminate the black bands on the HD
channels.
The analog channels may look a little better if you can reset your TV
set and Moxie setting for 480p. Unfortunately the Adelphia DVR box
doesn't do this automatically.
Recording via DVR is so much easier with a better output than using a
VCR that I am willing to put up with some limitations on the DVR box.

Thanks for the reply Bill. I changed the moxie box to 1020i and the black
bands are gone. One other question.....
The Picture in Picture does not seem to work. I called Adelphia and he said
that I would need to coax jacks on my tv to use this feature. Do you use it
and if so, how do you have it hooked up? Thanks!

I don't use picture-in-picture with the HD box, but I did previously
with my digital box, although the only time I used it was during the
college football season.
You need to split the cable-in line before the HD box and have two
inputs to your TV. I think you can then view either two analog channels
or one analog and one digital channel using PIP, but not two digital
channels. I doubt that PIP will work properly with a HD input and a SD
input.
