Emachines Model T5254 Startup Problem

The desktop is running MS Windows Vista Home Premium. User reported no problems with desktop after last use. Currently, when the desktop is powered on, it will boot to the MS Vista load prompt and power off automatically under all boot options. I have changed out the power supply and CMOS battery. An attempt to load OS from CD resulted in auto power off at Starting Windows prompt. Any assistance is requested and appreciated.

Remove memory sticks - Boot with one, then teo, etc

I removed both Samsung 1GB PC2-5300U modules from the two memory slots. Booted desktop without memory modules and received 1 long beep code until the desktop is powered off. Added one module at a time and booted, the desktop powered off after being prompted to boot Windows normally. I also attempted this same sequence with each module in each memory slot; the same condition occurred.
