Overheating? Bad video card?

Hiya folks,

First, my specs.

AV8 (VIA K8T800P-8237)
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+ 2.2GHz
2G Ram
nVidia GeForce 6800

I play a lot of heavy eq2, and lately i'm getting some errors in game, probably after about 45 minutes to an hour of play. NPCs in game start to disappear and sometimes the graphics even start to revert back to wireframe mode, white lines etc. I'm wondering if this is more likely an over heating probelm, or a bad video card? Thanks a lot in advance.

If the graphics are showing up as wireframes then it must be a driver issue. No physical problem with the card would cause that sort of problem.

Corruption from overheating normally manifests itself as random blocks and lines in various parts of the screen.

Have you tried switching to newer/earlier drivers?

You can monitor the temperature of your card with a tools such as rivaTuner
