More Information

I am using the Thermaltake ToughPower 700W PSU

My System spec is

C2D E6400
2GB CORSAIR
ABIT FATAL1TY FP-IN9 SLI
NVIDIA 7800GT 256MB
200GB SEAGATE SATA
20X LITE-ON IDE DVDRW

If I connect everything ( except the Seagate ), system boots up fine. But, as soon as I connect the Seagate and then switch ON the System, PSU shuts off within 2 secs.

:ouch:

Help would be appreciated

If the system shuts off it is likely you have a short. Try remounting the hard drive in different bay. You might try a different SATA and power cable.

Btw, the fan in the PSU never spinned.

Is that how it's supposed to be?

I mean, it spins only under Load?

Some ps have a built in thermostat; it's possible the fan won't spin until your system is warmed up. My old socket 754 fan only spun about half the time.

I opened one up. The Yate Loon fan inside was not FIRMLY plugged into the PCB.

Plugged it in and it's all well now :)

Works even with the SATA Hard drive.
