I am trying to get the most out of a Dell Inspiron 2400 I just got from a friend. According to the dell website it accepts

DDR SDRAM 333Mhz PC2700, non-ECC

They say it can go up to 1GB of Ram. It currently has 600 something in it. I want to maximize it, so I am assuming that I should get two of these.

They are 512MB sticks of Ram.

My question is this. Is 1 GB REALLY all the more I can put in it. Because I see plenty of 1GB sticks of PC2700 ram, and I would REALLY like to get those instead of the 512 MB's if I can. Anyone have any thoughts of advice on this?

Hi,

The Dell Inspiron 2400 memory can only 512MB in each bank for totally of 1 GB of memory total.

If the mobo says that it can support 1 gb of system memory then it would definetly support that much only...

if you habe 600mb of memory, then u add another 512mb... then the extra memory will be disregarded and only 1 gb of mem will be recognized
