Simple question, and any responses are appreciated :)
I am going to get an AM2/AM2+ motherboard, so I will have more upgrading room in the future. I apparentally has a 2600MHz Hyper Transport. I am putting a AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ processor in it, and am wondering, could the Athlon benefit from the much faster Hyper Transport? Even if it did is there any significant performance gain between a 1000Mhz HP and a 2600Mhz HP? Thanks.

Not really. I think you need a quad core to exceed what HT1 gives you.

That said, I would try to get a HT2 board. You might not need it now, but if you ever do, it will be there for you.
