For the extra features, supposed extra reliability and the low extra cost (~30-40$), I would go for the GA-EP35-DS3R. If you are on a tight budget, I wouldn't hesitate to go for a DS3L and put the extra money elsewhere (cooling, video card, ..., in your pockets :P). The DS3L will not prevent you from reaching 4GHz, but it MIGHT be a bit easier on a DS3R board.

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L cheap, quality, stability.

The EP versions ive heard have had a few issues (only really adds power saving mode if your into saving the planet by all means)

The C versions are DDR2 and DDR3 combos which combo boards are shakey at best and limits the quantity of RAM you can install... and DDR3 is expensive for no improvement

R and P versions add features so if you need the features for for them (RAID, Firewire etc.)
