get into the BIOS and do some tweaks. there is no good software that give you better result then doing it in BIOS.

I agree, stick with BIOS. It may be a little more confusing than a nice Windows GUI OC tool but it is safer and more stable to oc straight from BIOS.

ryan what load temp you get on your E8400 with what vcore?

According to realtemp with a tjmax of 95:

Maximum temps reached while running Prime95 small FFT
Core 0: 53C
Core 1: 56C

Average temp during test was 52C:54C respectively

BIOS vcore setting is 1.375v
At full load, CPU-Z reports 1.296v

because im interested in that SCCF. thats the best rated.nice temp.how high have you been stable on that thing?

from what you tell me you still got about 10C at least in temp headroom.

That's pretty much why I bought it; it was rated #1 and it is fairly priced. I am 100% happy with it.

I've been at 4ghz for about 1.5 months now. At idle my cores are at 31C:31C. Tested stable for 24+hr small FFT, 12hr OCCT, and 12hr memtest. 0 errors in all 3 tests

Scale 1: Duo
E4x00: Tcase Max 73c, Stepping M0
E2xx0: Tcase Max 73c, Stepping M0
E8x00: Tcase Max 72c, Stepping C0
E8x90: Tcase Max 72c, Stepping C0
E6x50: Tcase Max 72c, Stepping G0
E6540: Tcase Max 72c, Stepping G0

-Tcase/Tjunction-
--70--/--75--75-- Hot
--65--/--70--70-- Warm
--60--/--65--65-- Safe
--25--/--30--30-- Cool

I have a little more headroom than 10C :)

overclocking is a dangerous thing which can damage hardware and reduce their lifetime and also void warranty

clockgen is one of the best thing to overclock

try different chipsets until you can control the pll setup

some antivirus may tell that it is a virus, allow clockgen by antivirus

overclocking may make cou unstable
if programs close suddenly or black screen .. ect then immediately restart the comp
i prefer to not overclock more then 10%
and before overclock go into bios and set ram frequency to a valid working frequency instead of sync or auto

^+1. I too recommend NOT OCING through Windows. OC through BIOS.
