I don't plan on doing this for a while, maybe until the 9 series are released so a price drop occurs, but I want to get another 8800gt for sli eventually. Is my 550W rosewill psu going to cut it if I do that? I'm running an X2 5000+ at 3gHz with 4 gigs of ram and an xi fi sound card. my current 8800gt runs at 700/1700/1900

If your PSU is capable of pushing the far side of 30+ amps then you may be ok, but Rosewill PSU's seem to be on the receiving end of some bad press on various forums so I wouldn't chance it.

And it's not about 'need' but all about 'want'.
