I believe this unit has a built in 56k modem. Do you know if it includes a
"mini browser" in firmware (or is their 3rd party software) that would allow
me to surf the Internet?

I believe the 680 also has a PCMCIA slot. Would an 802.11b wireless card
allow for "wireless" surfing --- or do these wireless cards only function
with the full Windows Operating Systems.

I have an opportunity to purchase an HP 680 used --- and thus the questions.

Thanks for any information you can share.

Yes, it does have a 56K modem.

Pocket Internet Explorer, and other apps.

For more information - go to
http://www.pdabuyersguide.com/hpjornadahpc.htm - it's a pretty good site.

Yes - it also has a PC Card slot - but make sure that any card you may get
is NOT card bus. Handheld and pocket pc's for that matter do not support
CardBus cards of any type.

There are other web sites out there that have the jornada 680/690
compatability, however, you may need to search a bit.

Try a site, such as http://www.cewindows.net/devices/index.htm for the OS,
and other links on this web site for other information, like
http://www.cewindows.net/periphera [...] esslan.htm for wireless
cards.

I had one of the 680's, 690 and 720 at work. They were good, depending on
what you want to do with them. I surfed the web on the 690 (pretty much the
same as the 680 - more memory)

Good luck.

You can use wireless cards with the Jornada.

Good reference material for that unit
