Is this likely to catch fire?

Sorry for the daft title but I'm hoping to build a new system that will eventually be used with a 24" monitor for general useage as well as watch the odd HD film and and game. Hoping to use the following and just wondering if anyone can give it the once over as I'm hoping to build it in an Antec Fusion case so air flow may be an issue.

Antec Fusion
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-091-AN
I'm wanting to use this case as it's one of the few that will fit nicely in a compartment (open backed and fronted) of my desk with a good couple of inches of space surrounding it. Also like the styling and sound dampening features was tempted to go for the cheaper NSK 2480 but I'd probaly have to replace the power supply and I'm not sure how smart it would look if I sprayed the front of it black.

Noctua case fans X2
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-003-NC&tool=3
These are probaly a bit wasteful but they will cut down on noise a little further, hoping they will pay off when the graphics card isn't having to work so hard and so produce a fairly quiet system when not under stress. If these don't offer much of an improvement over the standard case fans or someone has a cheaper of more efective alternative let me know :)

Scythe mini-ninja
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-012-SY
Again probaly over kill but hoping to cut down on some noise, if I'm lucky and case temps stay low enough may try removing the 80mm fan as it should line up right next to one of the case fans. If temperatures do run high can anyone suggest a good 92mm replacement fan preferably as good a balance between noise and air flow as possible ;)

GA-G33M-DS2R
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-091-GI
Supposedly one of the better mATX boards.

4gb Geil PC2-6400 Ram
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-069-GL Not much more expensive than the 2gb set so may aswell go for it and get Vista 64.

Pioneer Blu ray drive
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CD-048-PO
Blu ray seems to of come up trumps in the HD wars lately, hoping the trend continue so I can save £50 by getting this instead of the LG blu ray and HDD player.

250gb WD AAKS
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-133-WD
Supposedly fairly speedy and quiet, been using a 36gb raptor for past 3 years so should manage with the 250gb drive unless the 500gb has better perfomance in speed or sound.

8800 512 gts
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-088-OK
Not too sure if I'm going over kill again on this, the gt would probaly do the job for me but I figured the exhaust blower will help keep case temperatures down. Just wondering do any of the HD3800 serise have a similar cooling set up and if so how they would cope with 1900*1200 resolutions, not too fussed about having everything on max but would be nice to have some decent eye candy shouldI decideto game.

CPU wise I'm not too sure on what to go for basically it come down to the E6750, E8200 and E2180, with game generally being GPU biased wondering wether I really need that much grunt so basically its a matter of which runs coolest at stock speeds. Though in the case of the E2180 I may try over overclocking to 2.8-3.0 Ghz as I've heard it's possible to do so with out increasing voltage in which case temperautes shouldn't change. Is my understanding here correct.

Another pice of information that may be useful into whether air flow will be sufficient is that I'm hoping to shoe horn a PCI wifi card and a PCI sound card, though if it does restrict the breeze too much I'll replace the wifi card with a USB dongle.

Sorry for the long post just thought I'd try to be thourough, Any advice on wether it will work as well as suggestions on corners to cut to save a few quid or boost performance a bit would be fantastic :)

A blu-ray drive for $175 usd, wth?

Still kind of expensive, but its got me thinking if its worth it, I do use my pc for wathcing movies sometimes...hmmm...i wonder if I could get one a little cheaper perhaps? anybody know of blu-ray drives being any cheaper by any chance?

Ah cheers for the advice, though not quite sure where you got the full-atx and and 3*120mm fan idea from akhillies, it says matx and 2*120 in the link you posted :kaola:

Bit of a relief that no one seems to think theres going to be a cooling problem but just to play it safe anyone know of a site with comparisons of CPU temps at stock speeds? had a look at the CPU charts here but they're all bench marks.

CPU: I would go with the E2160 (and overclock it of course ;) ). Many people here have not had the greatest overclocking experience with the E2180, and you can save a couple bucks.

Everything else looks great, although may I suggest not storing chocolate in your case like amdfangirl :kaola:.

I can't quite see the link for that, it didn't paste right. If it makes you feel any better, I got a LG Blu-ray / HD-DVD player for under $300 and it came with software and everything. Works 100% on my system. :D

Hehe well if it's recommended for value over the other two and won't bottle neck the rest of the system clocked at 3ghz I'll probalt go for it, however what do you reckon the chances of getting it up that far on the G33M DS2R are going to be, I've heard that it can't isolate the memory a processor FSB's with and 800FSB chip which will put more strain on the memory anyone know if it will cope well enough to get something that won't hinder the rest of the components?

the chip usually hits 3.2... you should be fine...

as for bottlenecks... only the cache might start to make a difference, but then agian, legionhardware claim that a higher clockspeed can counteract that, so...

Just noticed one possible problem with this build, they have the one of the PCI slots directly beneath the PCI-E x16 slot so using a dual slot card I'll have to choose between a PCI Wifi adapter or a sound card while having an empty PCI-E X1 slot. Any one know of a decent 775 motherboard (ie reliable and have half decent over clocking potential, not going to be pushing to the limits but if i got for the E2160 I'd like to get it to 3ghz) that has the PCI-e X1 slot directly beneath the PCI-e X16, so I can sacrifice that instead.
That or has there been recent developement with PCI-e X1 cards and you can now get sound card or wifi adapters for them? (seen one wifi adapter but I don't trust the belkin router to cope with it :kaola: )

This has 2 accessible PCI slots but I don't know too much about the stability or OCability of this board. It is an MSI, it should be good.

Unfortunately the case is mATX and that board is full-ATX, thanks for confirmingthat the E8400 does run cooler though, think I'll probally still chance the E2160 though just to good value to pass up if it does run hot though I'll be able to switch to 45nm with out being to far out of pocket.

I noticed that right after I posted it so I reposted with an mATX board. The underlined link is to your uk site as well.

Sorry for the confusion.

Sorry to keep being negative but that has the same problem with the PCI slot placement as the GA-G33m-DS2R. I have a feeling though that this is a trade off that I'll just have to make if I want to have an mATX setup with a dual slot card.
Thanks for looking anyhow though.

You give up too easily. :)

How about the MSI board then? Intel also makes some boards with accessible PCI slots, but your uk site does not sell Intel boards.

At the newegg site the first user review (5 stars) is a fellow who is very happy with this board and the OCed E2160 he has in it:
Everything is fine

Reviewed By: voron on 2/8/2008 Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year

This user purchased this item from Newegg.com

Pros: Got it for a cheap HTPC. Works just fine with E2160 OCed @ 2.5GHz, 2Gb PC6400 RAM and onboard(!) graphics. I was planning on getting Radeon HD2600 for HD video, but now I am not sure I really need it. Able to watch 720p & 1080p HD-rips on big screen TV, CPU usage is around 30-40%, MB and CPU temps is ~30 C with stock cooler. No problems with onboard sound and gigabit ethernet.

Cons: Don't bother with MSI utilities. Useless.

Other Thoughts: If you want to use onboard graphics with DVI/HDMI monitor, you will need an ADD2 DVI card for PCIe slot. Available online for 10 bucks.
