I called mwave.com sales today. They said that the E8400 will no longer be available and will be replaced by E8500. Is this correct? It just seems odd since the E8400 just came out a short time ago. Furthermore, I understand that the E8500 will be more expensive. Does anyone have information when this cpu will become available?

Errr you've been had!  Yes, the E8500 will cost ~$100 more than it's little brother, the only difference being the .5 higher multiplier (someone please correct me if I wrong on that being the only difference).

Perhaps they meant it will no longer be available in the sense that they will no longer keep it in stock, not that its going to be taken off of the market all together.

Well conspiracy theories aside it is listed elsewhere.

Shop around ... one dork at a computer shop isn't a test of reality ... by any means.

I imagine the volumes will be starting to ramp now ... others here have had little trouble getting them ... mind you ... sharks always manage to find a feed ... LOL.

You might pay $20 more or so to get it quicker.

BS! They just want more of your money. Buy from someone else as a protest and tell the liars you're going to to that and why. Perhaps they won't do it again in future. Warn your friends not to deal with the liars.
