I'm planning a build around the time the P45 boards will be coming out.  Other then the 16x PCI that I'm hearing is causing problems what else can I expect from a P45 compared to a P35?  I've also hear about P43 is I remember correctly.  Are these just giving official support for the new 45nm procs or do they have other improved features.  Would it be expected that they are better or equal to P35 for overcloaking.  I've only seen the CeBit pictures of them and haven't been able to find much else on them but I figured someone here would know.

Look at the difference between the Intel 945, 965, P35, X38, P45, X48.... NOTHING! except overclocking and some minor memory controller work (or more major - DDR2, DDR3 etc), and minor bits and pieces, and apparently some cloaking over it? lol sorry

Far as i can see, nothing to wait for when we have the P35

The biggest difference as far as I can tell is this:

NB and SB cooling is different
Memory support varies
PCI x16 2.0
Support for 45nm procs after BIOS update vs. out of the box

That's pretty much it.

The Chipset will also be built on the 65nm instead of the 90nm process.

The result is that it will run cooler and can likely allow for faster FSB speeds.

How will it compare to the X38 chipset in terms of overclocking?

My guess is it will OC better.
The Upcoming X48 will likely be the best.

But that is complete conjucture obviously.

Early tests show the X48 ocs only slightly better than X38.

Do those tests take into account Mobo Limits and not just the fact the CPU is hitting its limit? (Just asking, since I have not seen test results.)

Example, The 9300/9450 will likely be limited by FSB (i.e., mobo) much more than the Extreme Versions which will hit more Chip than Mobo limits.

They lowered multiplier in order to increase FSB, so it should be the motherboard and not cpu limit.
