Whenever i use an optical drive while watching a DVD using the other it causes the DVD to freeze for 5 secs or so. For example when i go to burn a cd.
Is this because they are sharing a single channel on the IDE bus. If so i shall replace them with SATA optical drives or is it a system related phenomena.

Cheers

Chris

They are both using the same DMA address most likely. That sounds like the culprit to me. Either put one on each channel, or switch one out for a SATA model.

Might I suggest the Plextor. It's a little more pricey, but well worth it.
