Newegg has a good deal of 8800GS, but 9600GT is coming.
so what to buy now?

If you had to buy now, you have no other choice than the GS!

Anyways, if the 9600GT is actually what it promises to be, it will outperform the GS by a bit. How much? We don't know. There are continually rumors about it getting delayed, recalled, etc. due to newfound problems.

To sum things up: If you're patient, wait and see what the 9600 truely has to offer vs. the GS. If you've got to get something now, get the GS.

Here's another way to look at it:
G94 9600GT = 256bit, 512mb, 64SP
G92 8800GS = 192bit, 384mb, 96SP

Now look at the 8800GT (that can be had for $200)
G92 8800GT = 256bit, 512mb, 112SP

I guess it would depend on the price you want to pay for the performance you get.
