I recently bought an Asus lightscribe DVD burner and I also have an older LG DVD-RAM Drive. My problem is when I install the new drive it isn't detected. When I switch the drive position and cables it's the LG that isn't detected. Even if I run a new IDE cable to the 2nd drive (from different socket on mainborad) it's not detected. If I go into BIOS I can only find one drive at any one time and that will be the drive using the original cable. The mainboard is a GA-K8N - Ultra SLI by Gigabyte

try setting both drives to cable select. also, did you try a different IDE channel? (if your motherboard has more than one). and if still no luck, if you do have two connectors, use that new cable to connect both drives to separate channels.
