Help with Refformatting

hey i jst reformatted my computer with windows xp and now i cant connect to the local area connection, the icon isnt even there any more there is just a 1394(some #close to that)icon now please help

If you mean you re-installed XP, and not re-formatted your computer - you will have to load the driver(s) for the hardware you want to use, including your network interface hardware; it should be on the motherboard software and drivers CD.
