I know a e4500 is dual core but,

Q1) if u had two identical PC's in all other aspects, ie. running programs and other hardware, except for CPU, what would the E4500 compare with (in gaming frame rates) with a single core P4?

I know some will say "u can't compare because of multiple reasons", etc, but u can because one of them "will produce" faster gameplay, in respect to frame rates.

Q) Would the E4500 "in general" be equiv to a eg. P4 4.5GHz - (a OC P4) or lower/higher?

Thanks,

It would generally be close to twice as fast as an equivalently clocked P4. So an E4500 would be close to a P4 4.5GHz, yes. This is single threaded gaming performance, though.

In multithreaded games, it will be even faster. It's hard to say how much, since most sites have stopped benching P4s for a while, but you're probably looking at the equivalent of a 'P4 6GHz' worth of multithreaded gaming performance, taking into account that P4s with HT are capable of some form of (limited) multithreading of their own.

And then there's the e4500's overlocking potential, increasing the gap further.
