more memory for my system

I ordered 2 more gigs of memory for my pc . I running XP Pro and I know it can't read all 4 gigs total that I will have. My question is whether or not it will hurt anything by putting all 4gigs in my system. The reason I got more memory is because I plan to switch to vista before the year is out and figured I should just get now since I have the money

More RAM wont hurt the system, however it will only see 3.2 Gb of it.

Get the DDR2 ASAP as the DDR3 will start dropping in prices as memory manufacturers are expecting the use of DDR3 will increase in Q3/4, at which time DDR2 production will be cut back & prices will be up.

Nothing wrong with having more memory. The more the merrier, unless you go overboard for 8 gig or something. By the time games need 8 gig, we'll all be having to get new computers.

My mobo maxes out at 4gig so once my memory gets here t-morrow, I'll be maxed. the biggest reason I am getting more is because I think prices have pretty much bottomed out and thought "what the hell, it's cheap".

That's a pretty good thought. Take advantage of the price while its there.
