I rma'd my maximus and got a new one yesterday. Up and running in an hour. i guess all that experience breaking it down and rebuilding it 4 times last week paid off lol. Im running prime95 on it now. 12 hours stable so far but Im at work so ill check it later.
I am curious about a few things. My ram is pc8000 gskill 4x2 2.0-2.1 volts. I figured with 4 slots filled I would need 2.1 volts to run all 8. No dice. when manually set to either 2.0 or 2.1 it boots to windows but crashes in 10 seconds. When left at default, which is 800mhz at 1.89v<which everest shows as 1.98v it boots and seems stable. I know the maximus overvolts. I beleive by .09 because when set to 2.1 it shows 2.19.
should I not worry about this. or should I chg freq to 1000 and then see if it takes 2.1. Im only concerned because I want to overclock it and dont want the ram to be a problem. would moving the NB to 1.4 help?

other than that, and a problem with the zerotherm nirvana, which i fixed by tightening the two top screws all the way and leaving the bottom two a little looser got rid of the cpuinit error. It seems to be running fine.

1. do not worry about the ram voltage, just follow the the user menu.
2, you should tight all 4 screws evenly, so the cpu and heatsink are making full contact.

If all four are tightened It wont post. I am suprised I got it as tight as I did. temps dont seem bad. after 21 hours of prime the hottest core was 47c

I always tight the crews crossing first. the only thing I can think about is over tight the crews shift cpu positon, so the cpu botton pad does not make good contact with socket pad.
