"you don't have permission to open this file" issue

did a recovery and restore backup from carbonite, try to open some folders and get the message "you don't have permission to open this file" When I go into properties and attempt to fix the problem I now get this message "unable to display current owner"
What do I do now??

Did you use this procedure to take ownership ?

Yes tried the procedure to the letter and no change still get message that i don't have permission to open this file

Possible that the same condition existed on the backup you restored.

Try running from command prompt: sfc /scannow
(System file checker)

or Boot from Windows CD and repair-install the OS.
