Symantec CMC smcGui has stopped working

my PC keeps on restarting so i have set it on safe mode(networking), it keeps showing microsoft window symantec CMC smcGui has stopped working.
how can i remove the symantec endpoint protection from my system

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

Go into Control Panel>Programmes and Features and remove anything named Norton, Symantec or Live Update. If necessary, and it if puts up a fight - go to http://www.symantec.com and download the Norton Removal Tool.

After it's gone, restart, download CCleaner from http://www.piriform,.com and install that. Run the cleaner to kill all the clutter then run the Registry scanner and let it get rid of anything it finds. There will still be traces of the dreaded Norton in various folders but they should be harmless.

Finally, go to http://www.microfot.com and download Microsoft Security Essentials. While that is installing, it will check and if necessary turn on, the Windows Firewall.

You can try running a repair from Add/Remove programs. It sounds like you may have an infection. Try running the Symantec Power Eraser utility and see if anything gets detected.
