More Information

I'm using the on-board chipset for my video currently. It is a Gigabyte motherboard using the VIA P4M800 chipset. It is hooked up to a cheap 19" Hanspree LCD monitor (not widescreen), using the native resolution of the monitor. The problem I'm having is that certain colors of Text have fading of color on some charcters, usually the rounded curvy characters, like the 'c' or 'a'. It is mainly on dark blue colors only. It's a little hard to describe, but for instance, the lower half of the 'a' would be the correct dark blue, and the upper half would be a light blue. I adjusted the GAMMA control on the chipset, and it made a definite improvement, but did not completely fix it. I was wondering if buying a low-end AGP 8x video card would solve this problem. I do not do gaming or DVD or HD-DVD on this computer, so I would not need a very expensive card (I assume).
