I have a new motherboard/cpu/ram arriving tomorrow, below are the components:
Asus Maximus Formula: Intel X38 DDR2
2X1GB G. Skill DDR2-800
Core 2 Duo E8400
My question is the following, should I use my existing Audigy 2 ZS, or migrate to the ADI 1988B 8-channel High Definition Audio CODEC. If it helps I am a gamer, and also I my pc plays all my music, in MP3 format.
My operating system is Vista Home Premium 32-bit edition. Once again thanks for the advice!

I think this depends on your speakers. Try the on-board sound and see if it is all you need and decide from there.
Generally speaking:
If you are using some cheap speakers the on-board sound card should be sufficient.
If you have a sweet set of speakers use the add-in Card for better quality.
Thanks for the input! I did not know if the sound that came with the board which happens to be on a pci express x1 card would be better. However, it is the soundmax sound card so...
As far as speakes go i have some logitech 5.1's I forget the model name and it's not on the front of the woofers, but they are sweet speakers. So based on your advice I think I'll stick with the add-in card, the Audigy 2 ZS, once again thanks!
