Hello everyone =) This is my 1st post here as you can see!! ^.^
Anyways, i got a little bit of a problem, i bought a Q6600 about 6 months back, using it on some low-spec motherboard, my specs were -
CPU - Intel Core2Quad - Q6600 (Stock Speed + Stock HSF) - G0 Stepping
Mobo - Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2
PSU - Hiper Type-M 580w
RAM - 4.00GB (2x2gb Corsair) PC2-5300 - Dual Channel
Sound Card - Creative X-Fi Music (PCI-E)
HDD - 2 x 250GB Seagate Barracuda SATA2
Graphics - Inno3d GeForce 8800GT 512mb (Overclocked Edition)
OS - Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit Edition)
I didnt DARE overclock the CPU because of the mobo and cooling, so after 4 months i did a little upgrade =)
My new spec -
CPU - Intel Core2Quad - Q6600 (Stock Speed + Arctic Cooling Feezer 7 Pro + Arctic Cooling XMS2) - G0 Stepping
Mobo - MSI Neo-F V2 LGA775 Motherboard (P965)
PSU - Corsair TX-Series 750w PSU
RAM - 8.00GB (2x2gb Corsair PC2-5300) + (2x2gb ADATA PC2-5300) - All running at 667Mhz Dual-Channel
Sound Card - Asus Xonar DX
HDD - 2 x 250GB Seagate Barracuda SATA2, 1 x 500GB Seagate Barracuda SATA2
Graphics - Leadtek GeForce 9800GTX 512mb
OS - Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit Edition)
I managed to overclock my GF 9800GTX from
(Before)
GPU Clock: 675Mhz
Memory Clock: 1100Mhz
Shader Clock: 1688Mhz
To:
(After)
GPU Clock: 787Mhz
Memory Clock: 1201Mhz
Shader Clock: 1968Mhz
BTW i used RivaTuner to overclock this.
(Im more than happy with these GPU clocks, when i think about people getting 800Mhz-850Mhz overclocks on core, i remember that every card is different, so maybe this is my card's limit!! - Without artifacting etc).
I then thought about overclocking via the bios!! I tried upping the PCI-E Bus speed, but that failed miserably, all i got was the Graphics Card Error tones from the onboard speaker, i then did a CMOS reset, that worked ok, booted up the PC and everything was fine!! So i then went back to the bios and tried upping my CPU/RAM speeds..
Weirdly i cant get past 2.56Ghz on my Core 2 Quad - Q6600 (G0 stepping) without problems..
CPU-Z shows -
And for RAM -
RAM speed - 700Mhz..
Everytime i try to 'up' anything, i keep getting BSoD or crashing.. *confuzzled* Please help!!
Almost forgot, my temps!! -
If there's any further information i could provide, please feel free to ask =)
Cheers every1!!
